We’re happy to welcome Ivan Rhodehamel as our newest Fire Protection Consultant! Located in Carson, WA (and staying in Alaska often), Ivan brings a unique blend of technical expertise, real-world fire service experience, and an adventurous spirit that we’re excited to have on board.
Ivan’s passion for fire protection started early—he became a volunteer firefighter at just 16 years old! Since then, his career has followed a clear trajectory rooted in public safety, engineering, and innovation. While finishing college, Ivan worked at a code consulting firm, gaining hands-on experience that complements his academic focus. Currently, he’s pursuing a Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, deepening his knowledge in key areas like fire and fluid dynamic simulations, which happen to be his favorite subjects. He’s also excited to bring his background in fire testing to HGI, contributing to our projects, and learning alongside our experienced team.
But Ivan’s story doesn’t end with engineering. Raised with deep ties to Alaska through his dad’s side of the family, he spends a lot of time there—and recently, his family purchased their very own island, complete with a cabin they’re currently renovating. In the future, Ivan hopes to fly his family to and from Alaska in his dream amphibious plane, a vision fueled by his pilot’s license, which he earned at the age of 18.
At home in Washington, Ivan lives near the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, where he enjoys the outdoors with his wife (his high school sweetheart!) and their two energetic terriers. His wife has a background in the medical field, and when they aren’t helping others, they love to hike, explore, fish, and stay active in nature.
Please join us in giving Ivan a warm welcome—whether he’s simulating fire dynamics or navigating the wilderness, we’re lucky to have him flying with us at HGI!
