Cory’s journey to becoming a fire protection engineer took him from the heart of Texas to the Twin Cities. He relocated to Minneapolis to attend the University of Minnesota, where he initially pursued chemical engineering before discovering his passion for mechanical engineering. This change led him to a path focused on building systems and fire protection, where he felt he could make a tangible difference in the world.

“What I love about this field is that it’s incredibly validating,” Cory explains. “You know that the work you’re doing is directly protecting people and property. It’s rewarding to know you’re coming up with solutions that may not be black and white in the code, but creates a system that both works and satisfies client needs/wants.” He is particularly excited about the variety of building types and fire protection systems he will work on at HGI, giving him the opportunity to apply his skills in innovative ways.

Outside of work, Cory enjoys staying active and engaged with his community. He loves playing in local volleyball leagues, competing with friends in board games, and spending time socializing. His energy and team spirit both in and out of the office make him a great fit for HGI’s collaborative culture. We are thrilled to have Cory on board and look forward to seeing how his leadership in fire protection engineering will help safeguard the projects and communities we serve.

Welcome to the Team, Cory!
