Duluth, GA – April 14, 2008 – Jeffrey L. Harrington, PE, FSFPE, President and CEO of fire protection engineering firm, Harrington Group, Inc., contributed his expertise in gaseous suppression systems by authoring a chapter in the 20th Edition of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Protection Handbook® (FPH). The FPH was first developed in 1896 and continues to serve as the compilation of fire protection data and best practices. Mr. Harrington’s chapter, “Application of Gaseous Agents to Special Hazards Fire Protection”, appears in Section 17.7 of the FPH and covers several topics including: fundamentals of special hazards, characteristics of special hazards, types of gaseous agents, characteristics of gaseous agents, and performance-based analysis in agent selection. The chapter was developed to provide information to evaluate given fire hazards and select gaseous extinguishing agents that can provide optimum fire protection solutions for those hazards. Mr. Harrington has more than 30 years of experience in the fire protection engineering industry. He is the chair of the NFPA Technical Committee on Gaseous Fire Extinguishing Systems and a fellow of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE). He is also the President and founder of Harrington Group, Inc.
