Sometimes the best opportunity to “Think Upstream” can be attending professional development. Last month Harrington Group, Inc. attended the 20th Annual Fire Safety Conference & Expo hosted by the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers.

Not only is it a great opportunity to fine tune some skillsets but it is also an opportunity to network with other professionals from the region and the country as a whole.

How often do you have the opportunity to interface with the pillars of our community such as: Jim Pauley – NFPA, Wes Baker – FM Global, John Denhardt – AFSA, Matt Klaus – NFPA, Craig Landholdt – Georgia State Fire Marshal, Chris Jelenewicz – SFPE, and 27 others?

We learned about Li-Ion batteries, AFFF Replacement Lessons Learned, emergency responder communication enhancement systems (ERCES), Firefighter Air Replenishment Systems (FARS), Upcoming NFPA code revisions, Performance Based Design, Fire Hazard of Modern Vehicles, AI in Plan Review, among other fascinating sessions.

We were privileged to support and attend the Greater Atlanta Chapter, 20th Annual Fire Safety Conference & Expo. Harrington Group sent 30 engineers and had attendees in every session offered as well as providing three speakers!

Here is what some of our engineers had to say about the event that drew 380 people to the lunchtime keynote address:

Mathew: One talk that really stuck out to me was Brad Stillwell’s discussion on clean agent in high airflow spaces. Continuous mixing can overcome hot aisle and cold aisle curtain challenges with some additional agent.

Jim: I was able to meet with several vendors I had not seen in a while and then needed their assistance within the following week. Thank you, Chris and Mike!

Matt: Connected with Jon a fellow speaker and Brittany a former client. We are now reviewing previous proposals to see where we may be of service.

Thank you to the SFPE Greater Atlanta Chapter Conference Planning Committee, all the Speakers, and the Vendors for another fine event!
