DULUTH, GA – September 22, 2008 – Harrington Group, Inc. (d/b/a Harrington Group, Inc. in the state of NC), a fire protection engineering consulting company, is helping to educate their clients about fire safety during this year’s Fire Prevention Week. Harrington Group is providing information to their clients to remind them of how important fire safety is at home, as well as at work. The information includes a brochure prepared by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) with tips to protect their loved ones and homes from the major causes of home fires, as well as a brochure tailored for young children, which focuses spotting fire hazards in the home.
This year’s Fire Prevention Week will be held October 5th – 11th and the theme is “Prevent Home Fires”. The first observation of Fire Prevention Day was on October 9, 1920. It was proclaimed by President Woodrow Wilson in remembrance of the Great Chicago Fire, which occurred on October 8, 1871. Fire Prevention Day was later extended to a full week in 1922 and continues to be the longest running public health & safety awareness program in the history of the United States.
