Harrington Group is pleased to announce that Dale Hansen, one of our firm’s Principals and Senior Fire Protection Engineers, has been appointed Principal on the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) Technical Committee on Fundamentals of Combustible Dust (CMD-FUN). NFPA Technical Committees serve in the development and revision of NFPA documents. CMD-FUN has been tasked with developing a new NFPA standard that consolidates the basic requirements among existing dust standards. NFPA currently has multiple combustible dust standards that contain different, and sometimes conflicting, requirements. The new standards will be more consistent and easier to use.
Over the past several years, Dale has had the opportunity to develop considerable expertise in the science and practice of combustible dust risk analysis and mitigation. He is passionate about the advancement of the state this important field and his appointment as a Principal to CMD-FUN is a step in that direction.
Dale is a registered fire protection engineer with more than 18 years of diversified engineering, consulting, and project management experience and has been a key member of our team since joining our firm in 2001. Our long-standing commitment to excellence in the field of fire protection engineering is further enhanced by his affiliation with CMD-FUN, which will be instrumental in providing direction and guidance to the fire protection engineering profession. In addition to NFPA, Dale is also an active member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), both locally and nationally, and formerly served as President of the Greater Atlanta Chapter.
Congratulations, Dale!
