John Dreher was first exposed to fire protection after graduating from college. While pursuing a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Stony Brook University, he interned in the MEP industry. After graduation, he transitioned into sprinkler design. He was drawn to the growing, evolving field because “there are always new advancements” and “it is rewarding to work on projects that protect the safety and welfare of the public.”

As one of Harrington Group, Inc.’s newest fire protection consultants, John looks forward to traveling from his home in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for site visits. His past projects as a contractor involved working on well-known New York City landmarks such as the World Trade Center, the Empire State Building, and hotels near Central Park. He’s eager to gain experience in the many aspects of the Fire Protection industry.

“I’m one of the youngest engineers in the company, and I’m definitely looking forward to absorbing as much information as possible from the more experienced engineers,” he said.

John holds NICET and EIT certifications and is on track to obtain his P.E. license in Fire Protection Engineering in 2024. He is currently enrolled as a graduate student at the University of Maryland, on track to earn a M.Eng. in Fire Protection Engineering. In his free time, he enjoys riding around on his electric skateboard and hanging out with his golden retriever puppy, Ryker.
