ROLE HIGHLIGHTS

Field Signal Survey Execution

You’ll travel to project sites to see firsthand how well public safety radio signals reach inside buildings, walking the space, taking measurements, and documenting your findings in detail.

Technical Development & Licensure

HGI invests in your growth: we cover the study materials, exam fees, and study time behind your FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (“GROL”), iBwave certification, and NICET In-Building Public Safety Communications (“IB-PSC”) certification. Along the way, you’ll build real expertise in the codes and standards that govern emergency responder communication systems.

Survey Documentation & Reporting

You’ll turn your field work into clear survey reports and coverage maps, and work with the ERCES Project Manager to determine whether a building’s coverage measures up or whether it needs a boost. Everything gets a second look from the Project Manager and Engineer of Record before it goes out the door.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Travel to project sites nationwide to perform public safety radio signal surveys, identifying donor sites and characterizing in-building coverage
  • Perform exterior and interior grid-based signal measurements, documenting field conditions and maintaining organized project records in sufficient detail for independent review and reproduction of results
  • Prepare signal survey reports, coverage maps, and tabulated results using industry-standard modeling software
  • Partner with the ERCES Project Manager and Engineer of Record to form a preliminary opinion on whether measured coverage satisfies applicable code and AHJ requirements
  • Maintain, calibrate, and safeguard test equipment in accordance with manufacturer standards
  • Recognize when field conditions require a change in approach, and communicate schedule risks, site access issues, or unexpected conditions to the ERCES Project Manager promptly
  • Support responses to AHJ and frequency license holder inquiries on submitted survey reports
  • Assist with ERCES acceptance testing and compliance inspection efforts

  • Ability to make sense of technical instructions, codes, and manufacturer guidance, and to work through problems step by step
  • Ability to write clear, professional field notes and reports, and comfortable answering questions from clients, contractors, and inspectors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams; Excel proficiency sufficient to tabulate, chart, and quality-check field measurement data
  • Experience with iBwave or comparable in-building wireless design and modeling software a plus; willingness to complete training in such software is required
  • Ability to thrive in a remote work environment while maintaining strong coordination with the ERCES Project Manager and project team
  • Willingness to travel extensively for field signal surveys, averaging approximately 50%, including consecutive multi-day trips and occasional weekend travel
